There’s one guest room on the main floor towards the back of the house, which is accessible and can accommodate up to six guests (and your pet!). The other seven guest rooms are up the grand staircase. Each guest room at our New Hampshire Bed and Breakfast is stunning. They’re all decorated differently, each with its own touch of opulence and appointed with luxurious amenities, fine art, antiques, and all the creature comforts you crave throughout your stay. The Best Things to Do in Exeter During Your Visit

Whether your stay at our New Hampshire Bed and Breakfast is all about visiting and spending time with your Phillips Exeter Academy student, or you’re in town to enjoy the relaxed, historic vibe of our charming New England town, you’ll find more than enough things to do in Exeter. Exeter, located on the banks of the Squamscott River, is a scenic and beautiful place to spend a weekend.

Take long walks along the river or on the Phillips Exeter Academy campus, browse the shops downtown, take in a museum or two, enjoy great meals, and explore more of the Seacoast. You don’t have to do much to enjoy your time in Exeter.   1. One of our favorite things to do in Exeter is to take walks along the scenic Swasey Parkway. It’s from here that you’ll find some of the most iconic views of downtown Exeter over the Squamscott River. The Exeter River Trail is another excellent choice. 
  2. For a change of pace, we also recommend taking walks on the scenic Philips Exeter campus – they maintain an extensive network of trails available for public use. 
  3. History buffs won’t want to miss the famed American Independence Museum, home to an original copy of the Declaration of Independence and numerous artifacts from the American Revolution.
  4. The American Independence Museum is just one of the great things for history lovers in town. There are plenty of other landmark buildings, including the Exeter Town Hall and the historic Bandstand shell across the street, and the Gilman Garrison House on Water Street.
  5. Doing a little shopping is another of our favorite things to do in Exeter, and there are plenty of great shops. Some popular shops include Whirlygigs Toy Shop, Water Street BookstoreThe Colophon Book Shop, and The Chocolatier.
  6. In addition to great shops, there are also fantastic local art galleries and studios, like Art Up Front Street Studios and Gallery.
  7. You’ll also find an outpost of one of the most popular New Hampshire Breweries here, Sea Dog Brewing.
