Below, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite things to do on the Seacoast of New Hampshire in the fall.

  1. Take a walk along the Swasey Parkway or Exeter River Trail and enjoy the unbeatable scenery this small, historic town has to offer.
  2. After your walk, head into downtown Exeter and enjoy the charming shops you’ll find there.
  3. Taking Scenic Drives through the countryside is one of our favorite things to do on the Seacoast of New Hampshire. Driving through this scenic, rural countryside is pretty year-round, but it’s especially magical under the vibrant canopy of fall foliage. Great drives include Portsmouth/New Castle on Route 1b, Hampton Beach to Hampton Falls and Exeter, and the Coastal Byway.
  4. Hiking is also a great way to get out and enjoy time together. Great places to hike this fall include Stratham Hill Fire Tower, Pawtuckaway State Park, and the Hillzilla Trail and Red Loop in Exeter.
  5. If you’d rather explore on two wheels, rent a bike locally and head out to the Rockingham Recreational Rail Trail, one of our favorite things to do on the Seacoast of New Hampshire.
  6. There’s nothing more “fall” than heading to a local farm for apple picking. Local favorites include Vernon Family Farm in Newfields, Applecrest Farm Orchards in Hampton Falls, and Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury.
  7. Whether you have a kid attending the Phillips Exeter Academy or not, fall is a wonderful time to walk the well-landscaped grounds and trails of this famed school.
